Unisys Adds New Enterprise Server Models with Latest Intel Xeon Processors

Powerful additions and enhancements to ES7000/5000/3000 servers provide foundation for clients’ next generation of enterprise applications

San Francisco, Ca., March 30, 2010 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today added powerful new models to its family of ES7000 scalable servers, ES5000 blade servers and ES3000 rack/tower servers. These new models leverage the Intel® Xeon® processor 7500 series announced here today, as well as the recently announced Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series.

The new servers give Unisys clients a choice of scale-out and scale-up approaches to solutions such as virtualization, affording them a range of options to streamline their data centers, power cloud computing infrastructures and control IT costs.

“Our clients tell us that one of their primary concerns is scaling their IT infrastructures to accommodate evolving application and computing requirements without escalating costs or diminishing reliability,” said Rod Sapp, vice president, Servers and Storage, Unisys. “Capitalizing on a longstanding alliance, Unisys is delivering servers with Intel’s new Xeon technology that give CIOs new foundations for extending their application environments and transforming their data centers for competitive advantage.”

New Addition to ES7000 Line Combines Scalability and Flexibility
The new ES7000 Model 7600R G2 Enterprise Server uses the 8-core Intel Xeon processor 7500 series. It can support up to 64 cores and 128 threads in 8 sockets. This scalability, complemented by enterprise-class reliability and availability, makes this server ideal for consolidation and virtualization of multiple systems into a smaller number.

Similarly, those characteristics outfit the ES7000 Model 7600R G2 for a range of other mission-critical applications. It can anchor cloud computing in the data center, power business intelligence solutions based on Microsoft SQL Server databases, and serve as an engine for high-volume online transaction processing applications and complex database operations.

Scheduled for availability in May 2010, basic configurations of the ES7000 Model 7600R G2 are priced from $30,000.

“Unisys is a great partner that consistently delivers innovative customer solutions based on Intel’s latest technologies.” said Boyd Davis, general manger of Intel’s Data Center Marketing Group. “By delivering new enterprise servers based on the Intel® Xeon® processor 7500 series and the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series, Unisys is again providing CIOs with compelling platforms for next-generation enterprise applications.”

New Blade Servers Can Save Space and Money in the Data Center
Unisys has added the ES5000 Model 5400B G2 to its line of blade servers. Based on the new 6-core Intel Xeon Processor 5600 series, this server can support one or two sockets. Up to 14 of these blade servers can be configured in the new ES5000 Model 5230R Blade Enclosure.

The new ES5000 is well suited for demanding data center applications. It can simplify enterprise server consolidation and virtualization, while the Intel Xeon 5600 series processors enable fast concurrent execution of multiple applications. Innovative cooling and power management capabilities make it an energy- and cost-efficient engine for enterprise computing tasks.

Basic configurations of the ES5000 Model 5400B G2 server, priced from $3,100, are scheduled for availability in June 2010. The ES5000 Model 5230R Blade Enclosure, available at the same time, is priced from $4,500.

Higher Performance Expands Versatility of ES3000 Rack/Tower Servers
The Unisys ES3000 Model 3590R G1, the newest and most powerful system in the ES3000 family, uses the 8-core Intel Xeon Processor 7500 series. Supporting up to four sockets in a rack configuration, the new model is ideal not only for virtualization and consolidation, but also for database-intensive business applications.

In addition, Unisys has enhanced ES3000 Models 3530R, 3560R and 3560T to support the 6-core Intel Xeon Processor 5600 series. This gives these systems additional power for a broad range of data-center applications, including web hosting, database front-end, and e-mail and messaging applications.

Basic configurations of the new ES3000 models are priced from $1,700. They are scheduled for availability in April 2010.
